The Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: (Amount Equal to One Full Annual In-State Tuition Award) The Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time sophomore with financial need who has successfully completed his or her freshman year at Worcester State University. Candidates are required to submit an essay attesting to the financial need for this scholarship. The Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship will follow the recipient from the time it is awarded, as a sophomore, through the completion of the recipient’s baccalaureate degree as long as the recipient remains a full-time student in good academic standing.

The tradition of reunion class giving resonated with the Class of 1965, the largest class in attendance at Reunion Weekend 2010. With the assistance of the University’s second reunion gift committee, the Class of 1965 raised more than $21,000 in support of their 45th reunion. This amount was combined with the more than $5,500 in contributions to the class’s 40th reunion gift effort to create the Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship.

Named in memory of deceased members of the Class of 1965, the Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship serves as a symbol of the importance of higher education to the Class of 1965. It is the Class of 1965’s hope that this scholarship will enable worthy students to earn a degree from Worcester State that will open doors for them that they never dreamed possible, and that when it comes time for them to give back, they will be as generous as the Class of 1965. Knowing that there are students who require financial help in order to realize their educational aspirations, the Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship will help make that possible, regardless of the applicant’s field of interest.
